Roving Security Officer

ACESGroup is seeking reliable and professional Casual Roving Security Officers to support operations at an internationally renowned education institution — Australian Catholic University (ACT).

This is a casual, non-regular role with limited and irregular shifts, suitable for candidates seeking flexible, supplementary work. You will work across campus environments, providing a visible security presence and supporting safety, access control, and incident response as required.

In this role, you will interact with staff, students, visitors, contractors, and members of the public, delivering a calm, professional, and service-focused presence while maintaining awareness of safety and security risks.

Key Responsibilities

Campus Safety & Security Presence

  • Maintain a visible and professional security presence across campus environments
  • Conduct proactive patrols of buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas
  • Monitor site activity and identify potential safety or security risks
  • Support the safety and wellbeing of staff, students, visitors, and contractors

Access Control & Site Operations

  • Assist with access control and monitor entry and exit points as required
  • Lock and unlock buildings, gates, rooms, and facilities in accordance with site procedures
  • Respond to alarms, security breaches, and after-hours access requests
  • Support day-to-day campus security operations in line with client requirements

Incident Response & Emergency Management

  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, emergencies, and requests for assistance
  • Provide a calm and professional response during high-pressure situations
  • Assist emergency services and follow direction from Supervisors and site representatives
  • Complete incident follow-up and participate in debriefs where required

Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver professional and respectful customer service to all campus stakeholders
  • Act as an approachable point of contact for staff, students, and visitors
  • Provide information, guidance, and support in a courteous and service-focused manner
  • Manage interactions with members of the public with professionalism and discretion

Reporting & Administration

  • Complete accurate incident reports, patrol logs, and shift documentation
  • Maintain clear, timely, and professional written records
  • Use reporting systems and security technologies as required
  • Escalate risks, hazards, and incidents in line with procedures

Teamwork & Professional Standards

  • Work collaboratively with Supervisors, fellow Security Officers, and client representatives
  • Follow operational procedures, site instructions, and company policies
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation, punctuality, and professionalism
  • Contribute positively to a flexible casual workforce model
Skills and Experience
  • Previous security experience in an education, corporate, public-facing, or similar environment preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, calm, and customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Reliable, adaptable, and available for irregular casual shifts
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills for reporting and documentation
Essential Criteria / Qualifications
  • Current ACT Security Licence
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Working With Vulnerable People Check or ability to obtain
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in dynamic environments
  • Full working rights in Australia
