ACESGroup is seeking proactive and professional Security Officers (Roving) to help deliver visible, service-led security across Powerhouse precincts.
This is a public-facing role responsible for visitor-focused customer service and is suited to officers who are observant, approachable, and confident responding early to issues before they escalate. You will patrol internal and external areas, support visitors and staff, respond to incidents and alarms, and contribute to a calm, safe, and welcoming environment.

Powerhouse Museum sits at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia.
Powerhouse is undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta, expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill, the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo, and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.
About the Role
In this role, you will conduct proactive internal and external patrols, provide a visible presence across public and operational areas, and identify and respond early to safety and security issues. You will assist visitors, staff, and contractors professionally, respond to alarms, incidents, welfare concerns, and site requests, and support exhibitions, events, crowd movement, and access control.
You may also be required to provide escorts and assist with VIP or sensitive movements where necessary, while completing clear, accurate, and timely incident reports.
Key Responsibilities
Patrols & Security Presence
- Conduct proactive internal and external patrols
- Provide visible presence across public and operational areas
- Identify and respond early to safety and security issues

Customer Service & Visitor Support
- Assist visitors, staff, and contractors in a professional and approachable manner
- Deliver visitor-focused customer service across the precinct
- Support a positive experience for members of the public in a high-profile cultural environment
Incident Response & Site Support
- Respond to alarms, incidents, welfare concerns, and site requests
- Support exhibitions, events, crowd movement, and access control
- Provide escorts and assist with VIP or sensitive movements where required
- Respond calmly and professionally to emerging issues before they escalate
Reporting & Administration
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely incident reports
- Maintain professional written records and support operational reporting requirements
About You
You will be well suited to this role if you bring:
- A proactive, service-oriented security mindset
- Confidence speaking with a wide range of people
- Strong observation, communication, and de-escalation skills
- A calm first response to incidents, alarms, or public issues
- Strong reliability and patrol discipline
- The ability to move between customer service, security presence, and incident response
Highly regarded backgrounds include:
- Venue or event security
- Campus or community safety patrol roles
- Hospitality supervisors with incident exposure
- Transport, public precinct, or visitor-facing security environments
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NSW Security Licence suitable for the role
- Current RSA
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Strong spoken communication and report writing skills
Willing to Obtain
The following qualifications or licences are required, or willingness to obtain:
- Unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
- White Card
- Traffic Controller / Implement Traffic Control Plans
- Fire Warden
- Confine Small Emergencies
- 11124NAT – Safe Handling of Sharps and Infectious Waste
- NSW Working With Children Check
