Assistant Security Manager

ACESGroup is seeking an Assistant Security Manager to support precinct security operations and provide strong on-shift leadership across a dynamic public environment.

This role is ideal for a capable security supervisor or team leader ready to step into broader operational responsibility. You will help supervise frontline staff, maintain site standards, coordinate incident response, and support smooth daily operations across public-facing and back-of-house areas.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can remain calm under pressure, coach teams effectively, and balance strong security practice with professional service delivery.

Powerhouse is undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta, expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill, the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo, and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.

About the Role

In this role, you will support the day-to-day delivery of security operations across the precinct while supervising and briefing frontline officers across multiple work areas.

You will respond to incidents, escalations, and operational issues as they arise, assist with rosters, post coverage, shift coordination, and handovers, and maintain standards across patrol, access control, control room, and customer-facing operations.

You will also coach officers, reinforce compliance with procedures and site expectations, support events and public programs, and ensure incidents, follow-up actions, and shift activity are documented clearly.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Shift Leadership

  • Support the day-to-day delivery of security operations across the precinct
  • Supervise and brief frontline officers across multiple work areas
  • Assist with rosters, post coverage, shift coordination, and handovers
  • Maintain standards across patrol, access control, control room, and customer-facing operations

Incident Response & Compliance

  • Respond to incidents, escalations, and operational issues as they arise
  • Coach officers and reinforce compliance with procedures and site expectations
  • Ensure incidents, follow-up actions, and shift activity are documented clearly
  • Support consistent operational standards across the precinct

Events & Stakeholder Support

  • Support events, public programs, and changing operational priorities
  • Help maintain a safe, professional, and well-coordinated public environment
  • Balance strong security practice with high-quality service delivery
About You

You will stand out if you have:

  • Experience in security supervision or team leadership
  • Confidence leading shifts in public-facing environments
  • Sound judgement during incidents and competing operational priorities
  • Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder skills
  • Solid reporting discipline and attention to follow-through
  • A practical leadership style grounded in process, not just presence

Highly regarded backgrounds include:

  • Event security supervision
  • Museum, venue, campus, or hospital security leadership
  • Transport, public precinct, or front-of-house operations
  • Ex-police or defence leadership in customer-facing environments
Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • NSW Security Licence suitable for the role
  • Current RSA
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound computer and reporting skills
Willing to Obtain

The following qualifications or licences are required, or willingness to obtain:

  • Unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
  • White Card
  • Traffic Controller / Implement Traffic Control Plans
  • Fire Warden / Chief Warden
  • Confine Small Emergencies
  • 11124NAT – Safe Handling of Sharps and Infectious Waste
  • NSW Working With Children Check
